Toulon in two days

Your itinerary

Day 1, morning: the market and old-town lanes

Start on Cours Lafayette if the market is running that day. Have a coffee, browse the stalls and explore the little squares. The cathedral and Place Puget make easy landmarks for a walking route. If you buy fresh food, plan to drop it at your apartment before heading to the beach. Continue to the port. History enthusiasts can choose the National Maritime Museum instead of a longer stroll, after checking its opening hours.

Day 1, afternoon: head to Mourillon

Have lunch in the centre or Mourillon, then spend the afternoon by the sea. Swim in an authorised bay, walk near Fort Saint-Louis or simply sit facing the water. A bus avoids the search for parking; check your route with Réseau Mistral. After a day outside, dinner close to your apartment may be more appealing than another journey. Book directly with the restaurant if you have a particular place in mind.

Day 2, the view option: Faron

Check cable-car operation and access restrictions before setting off. Wind or wildfire restrictions can change the plan. At the top, take in the city and harbour before choosing a short walk. The Provence Landings Memorial adds a historical dimension; plan its opening hours and visit separately. Bring water, suitable shoes and enough time for the descent.

Day 2, the sea option: the other shore

Choose a waterbus destination, such as Les Sablettes, and check outward and return timetables. Once there, combine a walk, lunch and beach time according to the season. Parc Fernand-Braudel offers a break away from the sand. If boats are not running or the weather turns, choose a city day instead: an open exhibition, Les Halles and the streets of the centre.
