This walk follows TPM route 9 from Cap Garonne mine to Fort de la Gavaresse. The climb through Colle Noire overlooks the sea and defensive structures. The published duration is 1½ hours; return arrangements are separate.
The walk in detail
The official start is at the mine car park, 1000 Chemin du Baou Rouge. The guide identifies the C30 Collet du Pastre track, followed by a climb towards the Colle Noire area and Gavaresse fort. The tourist office gives one and a half hours for this reference itinerary. Do not confuse that time with a complete return outing including the museum. Include the return and pauses in your arrangements. Download the route and check how you will regain the starting point before leaving the car.
Fort de la Gavaresse belongs to Toulon’s defensive landscape. The walk’s interest is its exterior and commanding position. To explore local history further, combine the walk with Cap Garonne mine, checking its opening times and ticket separately.
Official information for Le Pradet reports the Monaco–Bonnettes–Garonne section as prohibited, including when signs are temporarily absent. Before your visit, check municipal and Metropolitan instructions and fire risk in the Colle Noire. Respect barriers and orders on site. Do not pick plants along the way: the route crosses a natural environment that needs protection.
The walk suits visitors who like combining scenery and heritage and accept uphill terrain. It is less suitable for pushchairs or a day focused entirely on easy activity. With children used to walking, choose an appropriate distance and save enough energy for the return rather than adding more headlands to the programme.
