The beach and its surroundings

On a first trip to Porquerolles, the boat, arrival at the harbour and discovery of the village already take up part of the day. Tourist information gives roughly twenty minutes on foot from the village, adjusted to your group’s pace. Chemin du Langoustier is the access landmark.

The beach combines pale sand, pine woodland and a restaurant set behind the shore. Toilets, lifeguards and adapted-bathing equipment are listed in season. These facilities make an island day easier, but confirm availability, particularly outside July and August. For a wheelchair or assistance needs, the official listing describes a particular route and entrance; plan the whole journey from the harbour.

You are within the core of Port-Cros National Park. Rules concern fire, smoking, rubbish, movement and protection of wildlife and plants. Dogs are prohibited on beaches. Stay on paths, use designated bicycle parking and remove no plants or natural materials. Posidonia leaves may accumulate on the shore and contribute to the beach’s natural balance.

The crossing and any equipment hire account for most of the budget, as access to the beach is free. Check the final boat and allow time to return to the village, give back a bicycle if necessary and wait for boarding. During periods of fire risk, restrictions may change movement around the island; consult official information before crossing.
