More about your visit

The square’s development accompanied Toulon’s nineteenth-century expansion. Perspectives and ordered façades contrast with the old town’s street pattern. The contrast becomes clearer when you walk towards Place Puget: only a few streets completely change the atmosphere.

The Fontaine de la Fédération brings allegorical figures into a monumental composition. The large former Grand Hôtel on the north side houses Théâtre Liberté.

From the station, this stop lets you choose between museums and the garden towards Chalucet or the old town below. It is also a meeting place before a cultural evening. The space is broad and sometimes exposed to sun; a brief stop can suffice in hot hours. Seasonal events and installations change its appearance without changing its role as a central landmark.
