The Var natural history museum explores the region’s animals, plants, rocks and fossils. It occupies Villa Burnett in Jardin du Las. As of 25 September 2026, the museum is closed for renovation and expansion, a project announced as lasting three years.
More about your visit
The institution concerns the Var’s natural heritage: collections support the study of wildlife, plants and geological history. It has occupied Villa Burnett in Jardin du Las since 2011. A natural history museum also conserves and researches collections while exhibition spaces are closed. The building works therefore do not mean scientific work has stopped.
Some pages still describe the rooms and normal opening hours from before closure. The Département’s works announcement takes priority for current planning. The stated duration alone cannot establish a firm reopening date. Wait for an explicit announcement. Occasional events around the works, when offered, have their own dates and registration conditions.
For an indoor cultural visit in Toulon, check the Museum of Art, Asian Arts Museum or National Maritime Museum programmes. Access to Jardin du Las must be checked separately: museum closure does not automatically establish the park’s conditions during works.
